The cycle pαth that connects the impressive Tatara Bridge with the beautiful road that runs along the west coast of Ikuchijima Island, takes you through what has become affectionately known as Lemon Valley.

As the name suggests, the curving path takes you through the lemon and other kinds of citrus groves that Shimanami is famous for. The elevation needed to reach the bridge reward riders with open views over the Seto Inland Sea, the patchwork of orchards, and the bridge itself.

At the top, the atmosphere shifts from rural to playful. A statue of tyrannosaur wrought from iron is an unexpected but beloved landmark that greets visitors and makes for a great photo stop Nearby, the Lemon Terrace Café offers a well-earned break, serving lemon-themed drinks and sweets that highlight Ikuchijima’s famous citrus. The terrace seating is perfect for cooling down while enjoying the coastal scenery below.

Adding to the charm are the gachapon capsule toy machines, which provide a lighthearted diversion and a chance to pick up a small souvenir before continuing your ride. Together with rest areas and open viewpoints, they make Lemon Valley more than just a scenic lookout.

Other lemon-themed rest spots with provide places to take a break, enjoy the views, and wave at fellow cyclists as they approach.
