Local gathering spot with hearty meals on Yuge's seafront

Shima de Cafe is a friendly no-frills cafe that serves hearty meals made with local ingredients, such as “lemon fed pork” from the nearby island of Iwagi and locally caught fish and seafood. It is popular with visitors and locals alike. If you are really looking to sample everything these islands have to offer, order the 22-dish Tsushima Moyou set meal.
 
Here you will also find the Yumeshima Kaido’s contribution to Shimanami Japan’s Kaizoku Musubi Pirate Onigiri sets that consist of three rice balls filled with local ingredients. Shima de Cafe’s interpretation includes Iwagi lemon pork, Uoshima octopus or squid, and Yuge ume pickled plum dried.
 
They even have a vegan version here made with medicinal herbs picked fresh from the garden and locally farmed nori seaweed.
 
Somewhat rare on the Yumeshima Kaido, Shima de Cafe is open almost every day of week. It is reassuring to know that, except on Tuesday, you can be sure to be able to grab something to eat, a drink, or their signature blue soft serve ice cream, when exploring the islands of the Yumeshima Kaido. Even better, they are open through the day!
