Tasty pizza and pasta in a repurposed nursery school

Book Cafe Okappa is the only cafe on Sashima Island on Ehime Prefecture’s Yumeshima Kaido that links four rural islands and is only open three days a week. That said, if you are in the area on one of these days, you should definitely check it out if you can.
 
Book Cafe Okappa is a family-run business housed in a former nursery school, reminders of which remain scattered about the tastefully DIY-renovated space. Book Cafe Okappa is something of a community hub, and children are very welcome.
 
The interior, featuring warm wooden tones and a simple yet inviting design, creates a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Inside, shelves are lined with books, and there is a tatami mat room at the back of the building, at the end of a narrow corridor lined with bookshelves, where you can relax.
 
The menu is simple, usually based around two kinds of homemade pizza, their popular spicy chicken curry, and dairy-free sweets. Be sure to try their healthy soft drinks made with homemade syrups.
