This contemporary observation deck on the top of Mt Senkoji offers a spectacular view of the Onomichi Channel and out over the islands of the Shimanami Kaido that lie beyond it. The minimal design aims to preserve open space and reduce the scenic impact on views of the nearby historic Senkoji Temple.

Peak can be reached from Onomichi City center by walking up through the maze of steep, narrow streets that crisscross the slopes of Mt Senkoji or a short path from the Mt Senkoji Ropeway Station. It is an excellent place from which to contemplate or reflect on your journey across the islands of the Shimanami Kaido before or after your trip.

The upper level of the observation deck can be reached via a gentle curved slope or by elevator. There are drink vending machines and a retro souvenir shop that serves drinks and snacks in the open space below Peak. Senkoji Park, which is one of the region’s most popular cherry blossom viewing spots, is a short walk away.
